Was so pleased and privileged to shoot on a private home/farm on the east coast of Maui this morning. I have such a growing respect for the Hawaiians who are the TRUE heart of this film. We are guests and this I remember. Many have said this but actions speak loud. Getting good work on film despite a bit of a three headed snake....Love everyone I am working with but it sometimes is a.....well, just a wee bit frustrating. Everyone is working hard but not everyone has been "through the wars" but I DO understand and I truly believe a good film can result. I know I have never worked harder! Bless the generous people of this Island.
Bob Taicher & Glenn Shadix
Daddy Bob Taicher has been my rock and my director on this film. We are having a blast and Daddy Bob is keeping things together beautifully. Facebooked with Tim Burton today and Man Alive it was so good to hear from him.
Healoha Carmichael and Shana Kaikala
Healoha Carmichael and Shana Kaikala are local actresses who were in the background as subjects for the young American that Gauguin is mentoring and who, my character, Henri Vollard, is trying to charm into helping him make off with Gauguin's collection of masterpieces. Healoha and Shana were very patient with the Hollywood invaders!
Look forward to working with the actor playing Gauguin. Only a few major scenes left and then it's off to Hollywood and another job back east--then my mentor, David Kaplan's Tennessee Williams festival in Provincetown. Meet Tim Burton in NYC November 19 for his major installation and career retrospective at The Museum of Modern Art in Manhattan. Good times ahead and will keep up reports for those interested. Love Never Fails.
